Twitter

It appears I have a new obsession - Twitter. I started to follow this social networking system as a consequence of the events following the election in Iran. It seemed that Tweets were more on top of the evnts than the Main Stream Media and that it was the most reliable source for news on the ground in Tehran.

Once hooked I started to explore & determined that there were a large number of people that had interesting perspectives, insights and comments on the events of the day. There are numerous personalities both celebrated and unknown that participate in this network.

Many news agencies use this for breaking news stories & I have determined that events get to the public faster through Twitter than the traditional outlets. This includes fact checking activities that result in the exposure of issues that would otherwise "slide by" the traditional news outlets.

I am going to continue to participate and for those thoughts that need to be longer than 140 characters I will start to use this Blog as my "Soap Box" for my "Followers".
